Ireland was a great experience for me, as this was the first time I went over to Europe. Doing this trip with my College as a study tour had extras that I wouldn't have done by myself. Today I want to share with you why I will go back to Ireland in a heartbeat if someone invites me to go. I was in Ireland for 10 days and the college had lined up amazing events that were once in a lifetime for some of the classmates (I am hoping that I can say different but only time will tell).
The first activity we did when in Dublin was to explore the city and experience the history and culture of the city. This was done with a tour manager of Contiki tour company as the college put together a private tour with them. That night we got invited to dinner by another College to experience the Food quality that Ireland can provide, and this place was called Chapter One which is a one-star Michelin restaurant. This restaurant provided are group an excellent experience and a 7-course meal with wine paring. Then as students we decided to experience the night life afterward and hit a nightclub which doesn't open until midnight and closed at 5 am in the morning.
Second day was a tour of the college that hosted are dinner the night before and then some free time again to wonder around the city for free time. This time when on my free time I got lost in Dublin for 2 hours with a classmate. Now I do recommend taking some time with out plans and wonder the city. This allows you to experience the city from a local view instead of a tourist view and helps you avoid a tourist trap that most tourist get drawn too. Also, when in Dublin we couldn't miss the Guinness Storehouse experience. This included a private tour and the ability to pour are own Guinness. That night again we went out as a group and hit the nightlife to experience other locations.
On the third day we had a big day from getting on the bus to take us to Ashford Castle which is a hotel built within a historic castle. When we got the site, we had lunch lined up in Cullen's at the Cottage on the other side of the moat. After Lunch we got a guided tour of the hotel and with the history of how became a 5-star hotel in Ireland. This then brought us into a drive to Galway for a couple of nights and more experiences to come. On the drive we landed up in Tullamore to see Tullamore Dew Distillery and do a Vertical Tasting of their whiskey's they produce. Which was an experience as the class was the first group to visit their new facility.
In Galway we explored the city and its history found out about the clad rings well there as a lot of people were buying them. In the evening we went out again to see the nightlife and explored the city. This city was not as in depth as we did in Dublin, but it led to the night study part with going to Cliff of Moher, The Burren and Blarney Castle.
After visiting those tourist sights, we stopped in Cork for some nights as well to experience a different culture. Well at the most southern city in Ireland we went to Kinsale a fishing tour that we had a horizontal whiskey tasting of 4 different Irish whiskeys followed but a pizza different at the local restaurant. The next day we went to Old head Golf Course to experience the most private course in Ireland. We got invited by a past instructor of the college I went too.
The final experience I really want to talk to you about it my experience at the Dunbrody House. This place is a private owned Manor in Ireland that is a bed and breakfast ran by a well renowned TV Chef in Ireland. Chef Kevin Dundon invited are class to his Manor for a 3-course meal and a tour of his property. This is a special visit for us as one of my instructors worked with him in the past and wanted to reconnect.
In the end if someone was to ask me what my favor trip I have from my past. I would strongly say this one would be a favorite, but I do have to add that all my trips have there only favorite parts to them or I won’t be hear sharing my stories to my readers
